How healthy are you?

A very crude estimate of your correct weight for your height is given by your BMI or Body Mass Index.

To find your BMI measure your height in metres (m) and weight in kilograms (kg).

  • BMI = mass in kg / (height in m * height in m)

E.g. my height is 1.87 m and my weight is 91 kg, so my BMI is 91 / (1.87 * 1.87) = 26.

Body fat, fitness & nutrition

Normal BMI is in the range 18 - 25. However, it is not a good indicator of Body Fat. A better measure is measuring your waist and hip size and calculating the ratio of waist to hip. For Men this should be less than 0.95 and Women less than 0.85 but it does depend on age. I will advise.

Another simple test of fitness is the Cooper test - how far can you run at a constant speed in 12 minutes? This is for trained individuals and I will use this test to monitor your progress.

Are you unsure of the right Nutrition? I can help you to design a better diet. I will advise on the right amount of Carbohydrates, Fat, Protein, Water, Vitamins, and Fibre for a healthy diet.
